Through the help and generosity of our many volunteers, we have taken great strides towards developing a foundation for growth and a presence in our community. Our year started with the kick off of our weekly column in the Wednesday edition of the News Herald. The success of the column has brought us a great deal of support and exposure in the community. The positive feedback we’ve received shows it’s been a great vehicle for communicating the different issues that surround early childhood. Thank you to all of our authors who have contributed to its success. At the same time our column was taking off, the Executive Committee was also beginning Text Box: an important initiative-the development of our strategic plan. After two facilitated sessions, the committee had laid the ground work for the organizations short and long term objectives. All supporting our established vision, missions and goals. In line with the planning done by the Executive Committee, the remaining committees continued to work on their objectives for 2002. In September we took two important steps forward. We added a full time staff person, and aquired our own office space. As we continued to grow, we realized the necessity of adding a full time person to our team.
