Parents and caregivers help young children grow by creating environments where they can use all of their senses to learn. There are many great ways to do this, and one is through the power of art!

Art provides an interesting and challenging environment that creates a foundation for learning. The people at Crayola® offer the following ways art can inspire our children.

Children explore the world around them using their senses to see, hear, smell, touch, and to figure out how things work. When children whisk a marker back and forth across a big sheet of blank paper, when they pound a lump of clay, and when they meticulously cut with scissors, their brains are growing.
Text Box: Children appreciate aesthetics. Children who spend their waking hours among natural beauty such as flowers and woods, who admire fine sculptures and paintings, and who chase their own shadows in the sunshine, are creating inside their brains an appreciation for aesthetics that will last forever.

Children learn to think and make decisions. Art offers an abundance of choices from paints to clays to markers and crayons. Uses for these creative materials are limited only by the imagination. Through the arts, children learn to recognize artistic challenges and solve visual problems. They are thinkers and doers.

For many years, research has been finding that children who experience the arts in abundance are creative, good problem solvers, and experience less stress. Thes skills are wired in the brain during children’s early art explorations. The arts are in deed brain builders.
