John also stated that the Powerpoint Presentation we use in the Speaker’s Bureau has formed the basis for a statewide presentation being developed by RTS.  The plan is to have it available on the Ready To Succeed website, and available for other communities to use.   
Zimmerfish is working on Phase II of the public awareness campaign “Be Their Hero”.  The goal is to spur Michigan’s culture to ACTION by creating awareness and motivating individuals to view early childhood care and development as a concern for all Text Box: In October we had our quarterly meeting which was well attended.  Our key note speaker was C heryl Frost who gave us quite an informative talk on the challenges of setting up a daycare center in a low income district.  
John Colina gave us the update on the state initiative for children 0-5, Ready to Succeed.  A white paper currently titled “ A New Path For Our Youngest Children” is being developed under the auspices of Ready to Succeed, thanks to a grant from the Skillman Foundation.  As our state’s political leadership goes through historic changes, it is vital to raise the issue of investing in the development of our children.  We know what should Text Box: of us.  The campaign will be rolled out in February, 2003.
There are plans to develop new avenues to reach out to our legislators with the early childhood message.  There are plans to have a legislative reception when the campaign is publicly announced.  In the spring RTS will bring in a speaker on early childhood to address the legislators.
We tied up the meeting with reports from our committees, Family Education and Support, Professional Development and Public Awareness.
